More than one physician may be managing different medical problems for one patient. The RN must understand each of these roles and be able to communicate information to whichever phy-sician has a need for it, averting time delays and minimizing physician frustration.

The coordinating RN has clearly failed to follow standards of practice, as well as policies and the Nurse Practice Act. The RN should be reprimanded and risks sanctions from the Board of Nurs-ing.
