Answer to Question 1

Nursing theory gives us, as nurses, a philosophy of what we believe and is the framework that
guides nursing actions. A nursing theory helps provide supportive research data to improve
nursing practice by describing, predicting, and controlling phenomena. Nursing theory
consists of ideas that attempt to explain a relationship between two or more concepts. Nursing
theory exists to scientifically define and support the realm of nursing as a profession with its
own body of knowledge.

Answer to Question 2
