Answer to Question 2

A
The AAS has been validated in several clinical settings and has been found to be valid and reliable for whites, Hispanics, and African Americans. The validity of the tool for Asian women is not yet known.
The woman may not be a victim of IPV, but the nurse cannot conclude that without question as the tool has not been researched enough on Asian women to determine its validity and reliability.
The AAS does not screen for possible future IPV.
The nurse should never conclude that a woman is being deceitful when being screened for IPV. Some women may not answer all questions truthfully because of fears for their safety, but labeling a woman deceitful is judgmental and shows a lack of understanding of IPV.
