Answer to Question 1

C
Nurses who have a strong sense of professional identity work to change perceptions that nurses and non-nurses carry about the profession. Starting a letter writing boycott campaign to protest the use of a negative stereotype of nurses to sell a product is an excellent example of this in action. Although nurses do assist in many different ways, a nurse with a strong professional identity will advocate for a more equitable role for nurses in health care. Establishing a discussion group does not reveal what the nursing student feels about interdisciplinary care and the role of nursing in these activities. Volunteering is a respected and desired activity, but it does not strongly suggest the student's view of his or her professional identity.

Answer to Question 2

D
Caring implies physical care, concern for the whole person, commitment to the common good, and outreach to vulnerable persons, according to the National League for Nursing.
Caring involves devotion to the nurse's clients, as well as using science and expertise in the relationship.
Caring is not easy to teach; it involves compassion and empathy and seeing appropriate emotions in the student in response to the patient's pain and suffering.
The ability to demonstrate caring isand should beevaluated in clinical evaluations.
