the dorsum sellae is projected within the foramen magnum

Rationale: A properly positioned AP axial Townes method is demonstrated when the dorsum sellae is projected within the foramen magnum. Correct positioning of the OML/IOML must be matched with the correct caudal tube angle 30/37 degrees in order to project the dorsum sellae within the foramen magnum. If a mismatch of the tube angle and the positioning line occurs, the dorsum sellae will not be projected correctly within the foramen magnum.

Ferguson method

Rationale: The Ferguson method evaluates the curvature of the thoracic and lumber spine. The patient is first imaged with a PA projection. The second PA projection places a block under the patient's foot on the side with the convex curve.
