Rationale: The thyroid gland is located in the anterior portion of the neck. The mediastinum, a region nestled between both lungs contains the heart, great vessels, trachea, esophagus, and thymus gland.

patient restraint

Rationale: Lower ratio grids require less dose than higher ratio grids. Faster screen speeds allow less dose to be administered to the patient. Increased collimation or restricted field size decreases dose.
