Answer to Question 1

shielding

Rationale: Protective shielding devices should be used whenever protective barriers are not available.

Answer to Question 2

leg was properly internally rotated 15-20 degrees because the lesser trochanter is not visible

Rationale: The AP proximal femur will rotate the leg internally 15-20 degrees to place the femoral neck parallel to the image receptor, which will rotate the lesser trochanter to behind the femur. With the AP distal femur, the leg is internally rotated 5 degrees or until the femoral condyles are parallel to the image receptor.
