Answer to Question 1

ask the patient to position the breast tissue up and outward

Rationale: Imaging patients with pendulous breasts may result in the breast tissue obscuring the bases and costophrenic angles. This added density makes optimal technical achievement difficult. Instruct the patient to lift the breast tissue up and pull out to the side as they step up to the upright Bucky for the repeat image.

Answer to Question 2

RAO

Rationale: Scapular Y views in the upright position will use anterior obliques RAO or LAO to position the affected side closest to the image receptor. Scapular Y views in the supine position will use posterior obliques RPO or LPO to position the affected side furthest from the image receptor.
