Answer to Question 1

Justifications should reflect the following general descriptions:
Identity diffusion: The person has made no commitment to a particular career path or ideological belief system. Possibly there has been some haphazard experimentation with particular roles or beliefs, but the person has not yet embarked on a serious exploration of issues related to self-definition.
Foreclosure: The person has made a firm commitment to an occupation and a particular set of beliefs. The choices have been based largely on what others (perhaps parents or other family members) have prescribed, without an earnest exploration of other possibilities.
Moratorium: The person has no strong commitment to a particular career or set of beliefs, but is actively exploring and considering a variety of professions and ideologies.
Identity achievement: The person has previously gone through a period of moratorium and emerged with a clear choice regarding occupation and commitment to political and religious beliefs.
Keep in mind that the individual may be described as having different statuses depending on the domain. For instance, the person may be in foreclosure with regard to religious beliefs but in moratorium with regard to a career choice.
