Answer to Question 1

In addition to addressing the usual adolescent concerns (e.g., Who is the real me? What do I want to do with my life?), these adolescents must face the following challenges (the response should include at least two of these or justifiable alternatives):
They are more likely to get negative feedback from adults and peers.
Others' discriminatory behaviors may either overtly or subtly communicate that they are somehow inferior.
They may have to reconcile disparate views of what is considered appropriate or normal behavior.
Some, especially those with disabilities, may have greater difficulty achieving the successes that age-mates regularly achieve.
They may be part of what some people consider to be an inferior group.

This condition is progressive and worsens with time. More than 100 million people in the United States are nearsighted, but only 20% of those are born with the condition.
