Tracheotomy is an incision into the trachea below the larynx to help the patient breathe. It is sometimes done as an emergency procedure.

There are three types of major paired salivary glands that are located in the soft tissue walls of the oral cavity: submandibular, sublingual, and parotid glands. The parotid glands are the largest of the glands and the ducts of these glands secrete saliva into the mouth. The ducts of these major glands, in addition to lesser glands, secrete saliva into the mouth.
