Intrauterine thermal balloon therapy is contraindicated for women who wish to have future pregnancies. The thermal process destroys the endometrial lining that supports the placental attachment during pregnancy.

A vaginal hysterectomy is done totally through the vagina. A total abdominal hysterectomy (TAH) is done all through the open abdomen. A laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy (LAVH) is performed by using laparoscopy to take down the abdominal ligaments and vasculature and remove the uterus through the vagina.
