Answer to Question 1

ANS: D
When using a Kerr incision, the bladder is dissected off the uterus and retracted gently downward. The lower uterine segment is entered through a low horizontal curvilinear incision. This approach causes less intraoperative blood loss and decreased chance of rupture with subsequent pregnancies. Some patients will be able to have vaginal deliveries in future pregnancies.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: A
Patients with cervical incompetence are seen with painless dilation and effacement of the cervix during the second trimester and may have a history of previous preterm rupture or spontaneous abortion.
