Answer to Question 1

ANS: F
These sutures are packaged and used dry. Do not soak or dip in saline because the material hydrolyzes in water and the tensile strength will decrease.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: T
Natural lines of tension are formed by the relationship of the skin to the underlying musculature. Austrian anatomist Karl Langer described how incisions could be more cosmetic if natural cleavage lines were followed when planning the surgical incision.
