Answer to Question 1

ANS: T
The gown and gloves for the scrub person should be opened on a Mayo stand or prep table separate from the main sterile field. The person establishing the sterile field should not gown and glove from the main field because the risk of contamination is higher than gowning and gloving from a separate surface.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: B
Because the cavity being worked in is deep, laparotomy tapes are the best choice to control bleeding and have less chance of being lost in the wound as may happen with a Ray-Tec sponge.
