Answer to Question 1

ANS: F
Boiling water cannot be depended on to kill spores; heat-resistant bacterial spores can withstand water boiling at 212 F for many hours of continuous exposure.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: F
Instruments with moving parts should be lubricated after cleaning. A water soluble lubricant deposits a thin film deep in box locks, hinges, and crevices but does not interfere with sterilization. This process may be referred to as milking the instrument and keeps the parts moveable.
