Sliding doors should be used exclusively in the OR because they eliminate the air currents caused by swinging doors; they prevent previously settled microorganisms from being disturbed with the swing of doors. Also swinging doors may touch a sterile table or person when opened. The risk of catching hands, equipment cords, or other supplies is reduced with sliding doors.
