Answer to Question 1

It is caused by a buildup of bedding material and feces due to the guinea pig dragging its rear end to scent mark.

Answer to Question 2

Rabbits can be asymptomatic carriers of Bordetella bronchiseptica. In guinea pigs, this causes severe respiratory infections, abortions, and stillbirths.
