Answer to Question 1

D

Answer to Question 2

In Raymond Cattell and John Horn's theory of intelligence, fluid intelligence is described as mental efficiency and reasoning abilities. Fluid intelligence increases until late adolescence and decreases slowly later in life. Crystallized intelligence is the ability to appropriately apply one's problem-solving strategies within one's cultural context. Crystallized intelligence can increase throughout the lifespan. Police work requires officers to draw upon both fluid and crystallized intelligences. The immediate response of quickly memorizing the license plate of a fleeing car is an example of an officer's use of fluid intelligence. The officer's hypothesis about why the driver of the car fled the scene of an accident is an example of crystallized intelligence  knowledge gained from years of work as a police officer.
