Answer to Question 1

The Linnaeus system divides all organisms into one of five kingdoms: Monera, Protista, Plantae, Fungi, and
Animalia.
Woese and his colleagues proposed that life be divided into three domains with six kingdoms. The present
kingdoms of Animalia, Plantae, Protista, and Fungi; plus the kingdom Bacteria, which contains only the
kingdom by the same name, Bacteria; and the kingdom Archaea, which contains only the kingdom by the
same name, Archaea.

The United States Department of Agriculture has the responsibility for regulating the care and management of
small animals.
