Answer to Question 1

A DLPM beam enters on the dorsolateral and exits on the palmar medial aspect of the limb. A
DMPL beam enters the dorsomedial and exits the palmar lateral aspect of the limb.

Answer to Question 2

Horses can be encouraged to maintain normal weight bearing on the limb of radiographic
interest via elevating the fore or hind limb on the contralateral side. A modest amount of
pressure applied to either the knee or hock on the limb of interest will also encourage the
horse to remain weight bearing. Finally, when horses are required to stand on a positioning
block, concurrently elevating the contralateral forelimb on second block can help to minimize
motion
