Answer to Question 1

A

Answer to Question 2

Pollack (2006) defines gender straightjacking as having overly rigid gender guidelines for males in
our society. Our society sets very high standards for males that limit their ability to express emotion
and nurture attachment relationships. Pollack believes that high rates of school failure, depression and
suicide, isolation, and violence in males are the consequences of this machismo culture. His suggestions
are that adults should give boys safe spaces to talk privately about how they are really feeling. Understand
that boys may be afraid to feel afraid. Provide for them alternative models of masculinity that encompass a broad range of emotionality.
