Gender schemas are cognitive constructions of gender. Although the theorized development of gender-role identity includes change from undifferentiated gender roles in infancy to gender-role transcendence in emerging adulthood, answers should focus on Stages III-V. Responses should address Hill & Lynch's hypothesis that gender-role stereotypicality increases at puberty and illustrate the mixed empirical support with example(s).
