Answer to Question 1

C
Evidence has shown that torture, in and of itself, may not increase the risk of mental illness. However, there are certainly cases of individuals who have been victims of torture experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, suicidal ideation, and other conditions related to stress. Yet torture does not guarantee that a person will experience any or all of these ailments.
