Answer to Question 1

A
The ideal nursing intervention for a person suffering from caregiver role strain is to provide direct respite care for the person. In effect, the family member is now taking on the role of health care provider, in addition to all the roles he or she previously held before the client's illness. Such a role can be overwhelming. However, without community resources to assist the family member in relieving some of the strain, the nurse may be unable to provide adequate direct respite care.

Answer to Question 2

C
Professional negligence results when reasonable care is not provided. In this situation, damages can be sought. In general, professional negligence occurs when there was a duty, the duty was not performed by the professional and harm occurred as a result of the professional not performing the duty.
