Answer to Question 1

C
It is most important to communicate caring in supporting a client during a life-threatening illness. During such times, it is not unusual for clients to experience feelings of fear, despair, and hopelessness, in addition to their physical symptoms. While the other interventions listed are important, one must always remember that caring is the core of all nursing practice.

Answer to Question 2

A
The impact of cancer on a client's emotions begins as early as when the initial diagnosis is made. Many clients describe the day of their diagnosis of cancer as being a life-changing event and marking a turning point in their lives.
