Answer to Question 1

B
The student's behavior is not considered a formal style of interaction. Touching the client and using the client's first name is considered by many to be very informal. In some cultures doing so in a professional environment could be considered extremely rude. The student nurse should be advised on what would be considered a more appropriate style of interaction between the nurse and a client from this culture.

Answer to Question 2

C
Interpersonal difficulties are a central problem for people who have personality disorders. It is not surprising then that these interpersonal difficulties would extend to the relationship the client has with the nurse as well. Difficulties in establishing a nurse-client relationship, disagreements among treatment staff, reluctance on the part of the nurse to provide care, and difficulty accomplishing treatment objectives are common complaints when dealing with clients who have personality disorders.
