Answer to Question 1

T

Answer to Question 2

B
Although most muscles become completely relaxed during ECT, the nurse uses a bite-block between the upper and lower teeth in the patient's mouth to prevent the patient's jaw muscles, which are stimulated directly by ECT, from causing the teeth to clench. This prevents tooth damage and tongue or gum laceration during the stimulus.
