Answer to Question 1

Ans: D
Feedback:
The prognosis for clients who receive care for bipolar disorder is good. In fact, bipolar disorders are very treatable. With psychotherapy, pharmacotherapy, and somatic therapies, most clients with these conditions can return to normal functioning. Bipolar disorder is not, however, considered to be self-limiting.

Answer to Question 2

Ans: A
Feedback:
Bipolar II disorder is characterized by a major depressive episode (current or past) and at least one hypomanic episode. Differentiating points are that hypomania has no psychotic features and does not impair functioning to a level that necessitates hospitalization. Bipolar disorders are not primarily a response to stressors. Lability and substance use are not restricted to one particular type of bipolar disorder.
