An important task of the adolescent is separation from his or her parents in preparation for lead-ing life as an independent adult. 1. This has been an ongoing task and is not specifically related to adolescence. 3. This activity is not significant to adolescent development. 4. Adolescence is a time to develop special interest in future goals, but goal completion is not a developmental task.

ANS: 4
The client may still harbor suicidal ideation and be a danger to himself. It is of highest priority to provide a safe environment. 1. Food should be provided, but this is not the highest priority. 2. Pain relief and efforts to reduce psychologic pain are important, but not the highest priority. 3. A sense of belonging and knowing he is cared about will support recovery, but these are not the highest priority.
