Answer to Question 1

Ans: A
Depression in children may be manifested by loss of interest in age-appropriate activities and poor memory. Collecting baseball cards, playing on a baseball team, playing piano, and going to dance class are all normal activities for an 8-year-old child. At this age, children tend to boast about their abilities.

Answer to Question 2

Ans: B
The presence of prominent and sustained hallucinations is suggestive of schizophrenia rather than delusional disorder. Nonbizarre delusions are associated with delusional disorder, and people with either diagnosis lack insight. Response to therapy does not differentiate between the two diagnoses.
