Answer to Question 1

ANS: D
The client and her parents are overly dependent. The parents control too many aspects of the client's life. Their boundaries are blurred so that it is hard for the client to differentiate her wants and needs from those of her parents. The clientparent boundaries are enmeshed.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: C
When the client tells his mother he plans to buy a dog, he is making decisions and taking on responsibilities. This indicates an increase in self-confidence and therefore self-esteem.
