Answer to Question 1

Some presenters think that if they can show enough data, the audience will be persuaded. The result is that instead of having two clear, easy-to-understand visuals, the audience has to sit through ten. This data-driven approach is not terribly persuasiveinstead of getting them fired up over your proposal, it may, in fact, bore your audience to tears. Instead of weighing them down with data, tell stories and give examples. Use pictures to help them understand your approach to the situation. They will remember your stories much longer than they will the numbers and statistics.

Answer to Question 2

Rhetorical questions are asked to get listeners thinking about a topic, not because you expect them to answer it. They prod listeners to think about your point and set up an expectation that important information will followthey expect the speaker to come up with some answers. They can break the monotony of standard declarative sentence patterns. If you use too many rhetorical questions, however, it may sound like you are interviewing yourself.
