Answer to Question 1

a. Physical contextReaders will probably read the document while theyre putting the train together, so it has to be easy to use. For example, it should be able to be left open so that the readers hands are free. The type and the diagrams should be big enough so that readers can read them without holding the instructions as closely as they would hold a book.
b. Economic contextReaders have already bought the toy, so theyre going to want to be able to put the toy together easily. They might be more inclined to be frustrated if theyve already spent their money; therefore, weve got to make sure that its easy to use. We dont want anyone getting so frustrated that he or she brings the box back to the store.
c. Political contextPolitics, at least in the larger sense, dont really affect this situation. The main thing that were trying to do is make sure the customer is satisfied.
d. Ethical contextThe ethical context is ours as the writers. Weve already taken someones money; therefore, we have to do everything we can to make them satisfied.

Answer to Question 2

b. Economic contextthe money issues that affect how the document will be interpreted and the action that can be taken
c. Political contextthe micro and macro political trends that guide readers
d. Ethical contextthe personal, social, and environmental issues that affect the readers
