A basic principle of medical research ethics is that researchers (from wealthy countries)
  should not conduct research in impoverished countries if that research would be unethical
  in their own countries. Salim Karim maintains that
 
  a. that principle must never be violated under any circumstances.
  b. that principle is obsolete in today's world of medical research, and should be
  discarded.
  c. that principle should be followed, except under special extenuating circumstances.
  d. the only principle that is relevant for medical research is saving the most lives as
  quickly as possible.
