  • Lipstick suggests a whole array of female-identified skills and activities (such as being able to put ones hair in a knot with a single pin), and also suggests female sensuality (as conjured up by the list of lipstick colors), the ability to woo and please a man.

  • She has to look in the mirror to keep from going outside the linesand even with a mirror she sometimes makes a mess of it.
