Answer to Question 1

Several categories of information can be part of a bid submission. It is always a good idea to offer a
business card and contact information including cellular number and email and website address.
Provide the client with your companys mission statementa brief write-up of the purpose of your
business. The submission should underscore the benefits of indoor plants, how they improve interior
design aesthetics, soften architectural lines, and add a distinctively natural touch. Provide the client
with images of spaces to be designed. The core of the bid submission is the segment where costs are
listed, ultimately arriving at a bottom-line fee. As part of plant care maintenance, the client must be
informed that plants will occasionally require replacement. State payment terms in the contract so that
the client fully understands when payment is due. Provide an address for remittance.

Answer to Question 2

Contracts provide all parties with rules of conduct and are an important way of helping people to
understand what will and will not occur in specific instances. If a thorough contract is not used, costly
mistakes could land a small interiorscape company in court and out of business. An important
component of the contract packet is the list of plants included in care. Any major actions not stipulated
in the contract are not a part of the normal maintenance. It is a good idea to explain color rotations in a
contract. Once the interiorscapers services have been outlined, it is important to list the
responsibilities of the client. All plants and containers should be protected from damage caused by
carts or machinery. The client should also be responsible for vandalism and theft. All parties must
agree to all terms of the contract and this should be stated, followed by signature and date lines.
