Answer to Question 1

Contour feathers on the wings and tail cover the body and give the bird shape. Feathers on the wing are rectrices, tail feathers are remiges. Down feathers give the bird warmth. Semi-plumes (under the contours) offer insulation. Powder Down produces powder for water-proofing feathers. Filoplumes are hair-like, with barbs along the shaft to help guide the bird in flight and rearrange the feathers. Bristle feathers are on the head and around the eyes and nares. These are sensory feathers. (Blood feather is not an acceptable answer; all feathers begin as blood feathers.)

Answer to Question 2

If the feeding tube has been placed in the trachea and the food is delivered, it will cause immediate death by allowing food to enter the lungs and instantly suffocate the bird.
