Answer to Question 1

Males have a scent gland that becomes more evident with maturity on the top of the head. Females do not have one. The scrotum in males is easily seen and has a pendulous stalk.

Answer to Question 2

Under subdued lighting, a quick scruff is recommended, but be prepared for vocalization. The best method is to mask the sugar glider down with gas anesthesia.
