Owls are frequently hit by vehicles when hunting along roadsides because they have binocular vision with eye sockets that are fixed in their head, so they do not look left and right before attacking. This means that they never see the vehicle approaching.

Amphibians are valuable indicators for two key reasons:

1 . Their permeable skin
2 . Their biphasic life cycle
