Answer to Question 1

The artificial spawning of trout begins with the technician injecting the female with hormones to accelerate the ovulation process. At the proper time, the technician gently applies pressure to the lower abdomen to milk the eggs out. A similar process is applied to the male to collect sperm. The sperm is applied to the eggs for fertilization, and the fertilized eggs are placed in hatching jars. After hatching, the fry are placed in special tanks while they grow to sufficient size for the raceways.
