To be acceptable for domestication, fish must:

1 . Be acceptable for eating
2 . Have enough flesh to be worth the effort to raise
3 . Be able to withstand the rigors of captivity
4 . Be able to reproduce efficiently in order to provide enough young for stocking in large quantities

Answer to Question 2

The advantages of fish as agricultural animals include:

1 . They are ectothermic, so they do not have to use energy to produce body heat that must be kept to a consistent temperature
2 . They are buoyant, so they use less energy to move about, which means that they are able to put on more body weight with less feed than most other farm animals
3 . Fish yield a higher percentage of edible meat
4 . Fish meat is considered healthy by many people
