An aerator is a device that increases the oxygen level in water. It works by throwing water into the air, where more oxygen can be added.

The disadvantages of growing fish for profit include:

1 . High start-up costs
2 . Exacting specifications for facilities
3 . It is labor intensive
4 . It requires constant monitoring of water quality
5 . It is a high risk, as all of the fish can die if the water quality falls below acceptable levels
6 . Marketing plans and operations
7 . Operations must be located near a processing plant because fish are highly perishable
