The heartwood of cherry and walnut trees is beautifully colored wood that is commonly used to make furniture.

Answer to Question 2

Timber harvesters must now follow guidelines to protect the environment as much as possible and still alow the removal of timber. This includes keeping roads to a minimum and leaving trees intact along streambanks.
