While both eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells contain genetic material and are filled with a watery substance called cytoplasm, the genetic material in prokaryotic cells is not confined to a nucleus like it is in eukaryotic cells. Further, all plants and animals are made of eukaryotic cells, while prokaryotic cells are considered neither plant nor animal.
