Diversified weed management techniques and varied selection pressures including utilizing a range of different chemicals, soil cultivation practices and tillage, and utilizing cover crops all can reduce reliance on a single chemical (and a single chemical pathway) for effective weed control. In addition, managing weed seed production and lowering the weed seedbank throughout the growing season will lessen the need for herbicides.
