Answer to Question 1

When a planting installation is illuminated, patterns will be cast upon walls and ceilings, creating
positive visual effects. Lighting from below elongates a design, adding a sense of height, greater scale,
command, or even foreboding. Lighting directed from straight above an object may tend to visually
flatten the object, adding emphasis to the upper leaves. Generally, directional lighting, where light is
directed from angles, is best because it seems more dynamic, or changing like the angle of the sun.
