Answer to Question 1

Grafting is a method used to propagate plants that are difficult to produce any other way. The procedure involves the cutting of two parts of a tree. The lower part is called the rootstock and the upper part is called the scion. The two cuttings are carefully aligned and wrapped in string. The joint is then coated with wax and the plant is set in the soil. The two plant parts grow together and form a new tree.

Answer to Question 2

Nuts are harvested by using a tree shaker. After the tree is shaken and the nuts fall onto the ground, a machine sweeps the nuts into rows where a large vacuum picks them up off the ground.
