If granular fertilizer is used in a water garden, how can it be prevented from dissolving too quickly and making the water too rich?

Answer to Question 1

Use a slow release form of the fertilizer; wrap it in something that is slowly biodegradable; secure it in the containers so that it stays put and dissolves slowly over time.
