Answer to Question 1

The rope starter utilizes the pull of a rope wrapped around a pulley for turning power to start the
engine. the rope and pulley have spring mechanism that rewinds the rope onto the pulley when the
starter rope is pulled.



Answer to Question 2

Valves must have a valve stem clearance of about 0.010 inch, or as specified by the manufacturer. The
correct gap is achieved by grinding the end of the valve stem or by adjusting valve tappets.
